Marriage in India can be registered under either Special Marriage Act, 1954 or Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. Special Marriage Act is applicable to all citizens of India and the Hindu Marriage Act is applicable only to the Hindus. A marriage certificate is issued only if the marriage is registered with the sub-registrar office. A marriage certificate cannot be obtained, where the marriage has already taken place and was not registered at that point of time, both the applicant and spouse’s physical presence with the supporting documents are required for the registration.

We will require an authorization letter from the applicant in favor of SERVICES4NRI to represent the applicant. We will scan an image of the certificate and send it via email, where physical delivery is needed within India, SERVICES4NRI will send it by courier Free of cost, the international courier will be charged extra. SERVICES4NRI facilitates the procurement of documents from INDIA and cannot be held responsible for any mistakes/errors in the name. We will endeavor our best efforts to get the document issued in English, however, SERVICES4NRI will not be responsible for the issuance of the document in vernacular language. SERVICES4NRI cannot be held responsible for any bureaucratic delays or delays due to insufficient or delayed information/documentation provided by the client.

Requirements

  • The Groom must be 21 years of age
  • The Bride must be 18 years of age
  • Documents as listed below
  • Affidavits
  • Two witnesses (Three in case of marriage through Special Marriage Act)

Documents Required

If Aadhaar card or acknowledgement receipt is unavailable for any of the bride, groom or witness, the marriage certificate application may not be accepted. So it is advisable to apply for Aadhaar card before Marriage registration.

The couple would need the following documents to obtain marriage certificate in Delhi:

  • Nursing home / Hospital Report
  • SSC from recognised board by Government of India
  • Birth Certificate
  • Certificate from School signed by Principal on School Letter Head
  • CMO / Doctor Report
